As a freelance writer for multiple music websites, I have been getting “paid” in the form of free cd’s, digital tracks, concert tickets, getting on the band’s guest list, press passes, etc. I’d like to hope that writers are being objective in their reviews and getting involved in what they are passionate about and not being influenced by the fact that they got the album they were reviewing for free.
