This song hit me like a ton of bricks. It’s not often that I can find something that strikes me with such intensity…and I am in awe that it’s only the production of one person’s amazing vision of what could be an entire band’s work. From the piano riffs to the powerful drums and versatile vocals, Avary’s talent cannot be overlooked. But then again, I am a sucker for great piano-punk like Something Corporate, and any song that utilizes great hooks and vocal harmonies. And I will be overplaying it!!!
I’m really bummed I discovered this RIGHT when he left NYC! I can only imagine the energy of one of his live shows.
A friend told me about a poll from ESPN that 47 out of the 50 states hate the New York Yankees. This song is bumping on the radio in most of the country, and its almost as if they are being forced to revel in the Yankees victory. It just goes to show that New York is the “Center of the Universe” :)
I say we should just enjoy both songs. Sinatra’s will always be a timeless classic and I think its great that we are watching a classic anthem in the making. It’s crazy to watch history being made right in front of our eyes. I think Jay-Z’s timing is absolutely incredible in that he didn’t feel the need to write this song 5 or even 10 years ago and he waited until now.
I’m feeling all the New York love regardless, and it makes me proud of where I live :)

The best use of construction. Ever. A tribute to Michael Jackson on 29th and 7th.
After walking by this every day it was finally time to share it with everyone. One of the greatest things about the city is the random need for expression and the artist saw this construction as an open canvas. A true beauty.
I normally wouldn’t post videos of commercials, but this Levi’s commercial for their Go Forth campaign is simply brilliant marketing. I saw this with my roommate and we had to stop and re-watch it. The commercial was set to Walt Whitman’s O Pioneers poem and it not only captivated us but we were instantly inspired. Talk about reaching your target demo.
“In honor of the New York Historical Society’s upcoming Grateful Dead exhibition, the Empire State Building is going to be tie dye tomorrow. At press time, we were unable to confirm how in the world this was going to happen, short of dosing the entire city with acid and hoping everyone sees beautiful melting colors shining off the building.” via Gothamist
DiscoTech remixes the Rolling Stones’ “Satisfaction”…for all you DJ’s out there, this one is a floor killer.
Imitation is the finest form of flattery. Weezer covering MGMT’s Kids and Lady Gaga’s Pokerface. Kids had been ruined for me by a kid who insisted on playing the shit out of it but now I think I can tolerate it again. Gotta love me a good remix!
Biggie X Miley - Party and Bullshit In The USA
Miley Cyrus and Biggie walk into a party…and its surprisingly full of awesomeness.
